The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is a Federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools across the United States. The program was originally created as part of the National Defense Act of 1916 and later expanded under the 1964 ROTC Vitalization Act.


Last year, Evans High NJROTC received its first Distinguished Unit Award in the school’s history, and was nominated for the Navy League's Most Improved Unit in the Nation finishing 3rd. Evans High School is proud to announce that in 2007, NJROTC has improved over the previous year’s astounding performance and once again earned the Distinguished Unit for the second year in a row! CAPT. Ron Beasley, 1stSGT Gus Wilson, YN1 Joyce Reedom and the Spartan Battalion Commander, Cadet CDR Johnathan Strickert Evans NJROTC is the shining star of Orange County and example of achieving success against tough odds.
