Your Community Brief from Evans High School
Wednesday, February 13, 2019

Thank you for your commitment to making Evans High School, "A Place of High Achievement." Our focus is on Literacy, Rigor, and Relationships and our school's pillars of Pride, Determination, and Perseverance continue to be on display by our students, staff and community.

Academic Phone Calls

Throughout this week, we continue with our practice of making phone calls regarding unsatisfactory academic performance of our Trojans. We are midway through the 3rd 9 weeks of the 2nd semester and there is still time for your student to demonstrated mastery of their learning. The purpose of the call is for parents and students to collaborate on next steps to ensure academic success.

ProgressBook
If you haven't been checking ProgressBook, please do. And, also, be mindful of your student's attendance, specifically in class periods where your child may be struggling. Our recommendation is to be as conscientious about checking attendance as grades.

Parent Survey
Parents, Evans needs your support in gathering information that will be used to enhance the quality of our school improvement plans. Hopefully you received a text message from me on Monday, February 11th providing a link to complete the short survey. If not, you can visit the Evans High Website homepage at www.evanshs.ocps.net to access the survey link today. Thank you in advance for your vital input.

Tutoring Blitz - FSA/EOC Preparation
Specific students in FSA and EOC tested areas (English 1, English 2, Algebra 1, Geometry, US History, and Biology) will be offered tutoring after school on Tuesday's and Thursdays from 3:00-4:30 pm. Students will be provided with supper prior to tutoring and transportation departing at 5:00pm. Students received letters beginning Monday, February 11th identifying what courses they have been selected to participate in based on their course schedule. It's important for our students to attend, so parents and guardians - we need your help! This is a great opportunity to receive additional support in preparation for success in these assessments.

Enjoy your Valentine's Day and President's Day Trojans!

Mr. Rolando Bailey
Principal
