Amnesty Day Seat Time Recovery Program

Amnesty Day Seat Time Recovery Program

A growing body of research is revealing a correlation of absenteeism and its critical role in student achievement.  Research is also showing that absenteeism can be addressed when school districts and communities work together to monitor the problem and implement solutions that address the underlying causes.   Evans High School is taking an active role in promoting and enforcing attendance as a means of improving student performance. Pursuant to Florida Statute 1003.26 Enforcement of School Attendance Evans High School is implementing Amnesty Day Seat Time Recovery Program.  This program will allow students the opportunity to comply with state requirements to recover missed seat time due to poor attendance.

Amnesty Seat Time Recovery is based upon seat time missed in a single class period.  For every five (5) hours missed in any single class period a student will be required to recover their missed seat time in that class, by attending one (1) day of Amnesty Seat Time Recovery.

The threshold for recovery begins at 5 hours of missed seat time in a single class period and increases.
