Your Community Brief from Evans High School
Monday, April 13, 2020

I hope this week's message finds you and your family healthy in these difficult times. As you may have heard by now, the Governor suspended school for the rest of this month. I trust that our Trojans will use this time not as a means to disconnect but to proceed in their learning by staying engaged with their teachers in their online classrooms.

Parent Support with Digital Learning - Thank You
Many of our students are parents that are doing great work in partnership with our Evans staff with the digital learning experience. Our first week of digital learning was a success in many ways because of your dedication and commitment. Just below I have provided a sample email from one parent to her students' teachers detailing her gratitude for support received.

Good Afternoon,

I pray everyone and their families are well during these difficult and uncertain times? Just wanted to say thank you for what started out rough, but ended up a great first week of distance learning here at "Butler Academy" :) for Asharra! You all are AMAZING! Kudos to YOU!!

Please know that my lines of communication remain open! I'm here with her and trying to stay on her regarding assignments as well as making sure she too is communicating with each of you, as needed! Again, I just wanted to express my appreciation to you all for doing a FABULOUS JOB! Keep up the great work! Blessings to you and your families! Stay safe and we'll continue to support and uplift one another!

Trojans!

What an amazing year we had together. I was so honored and blessed to have met so many of you, and it breaks my heart that we will not be finishing the semester together. I want you to know that I cherish my experience at Evans and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to serve your school. Remember to stay strong through these times and to make sure you are well in your head as well as your body. I know you all will finish strong.

Be well and be safe,

Madalene Pursley

Worldwide School Closures as of Sunday, April 12
As of April 12, over 1.57 billion students are at home as they have seen their schools closed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Hundreds of U.S. counties and scores of nations around the world cannot offer distance learning to keep their students' education progressing with 1/4 of the school year left undone. While it is not a perfect situation, we are so fortunate to be part of a school district that can keep our students engaged academically until this crisis has passed. We thank all of our Evans families for their daily support and understanding as we refine the distance learning process every day.
